Temptation, Grace, Repentance, Dog “pens” and Chickens

 So i went for a jog this morning..on my cool down walk i was intrigued by an event happening about 75ft glancing to my right,
I looked quick enough to catch the event unfolding;

There was about three chickens playing on the fence of a dog pen, soon, the dog would pounce shaking the fence,
the chickens tried to fly away as they all came tumbling down but one of them just wasn’t quick enough,
flapping in the wind and “sqwailing” (yes sqwailing..what would you call it) for help as the sharp teeth of the dog inches in closer and closer to this once happy chicken’s demise and none of his friends could assist.

Unknowingly they played thinking they were free. willingly they enjoyed their trek as if they knew not the consequences. then soon became unwilling as they meet their end.

Seeing this, my thoughts took me away saying…As it were, like these chickens many of us straddle the fence, laughing and enjoying the so called “pleasures” of life and even more personally, trusting in ourselves and our wisdom and understanding… but there is coming a time when reality will pounce on the fence of our man made righteousness, causing the fall to our inevitable end.

Temptation is defined by us and our evil desires, dragging us away and enticing us unto sin which leads us to death
(James 1vs14&15)
in our willingly sinful desires we walk only in the dark with the deception that we are in the light…”on the right path” ignoring the horrific end that will become us on the other side of the fence.(1John1vs7)

Grace; “By the grace of God i am what i am. This is the believer’s eternal confession. Grace found him a rebel—it leaves him a son. Grace found him wandering at the gates of hell–it leads him through the gates of heaven. Grace devised the scheme of redemption.”(DL Moody book sovereign grace)

This is the marvelous gift of God that takes us off the fence of our ruin, and even snatches us from the mouth of the devouring beast. Ours though we did not seek it, saving us though we do not deserve it.
What we do deserve is death, and if the Holy and just God the creator and ruler of the world should pour out his wrath upon us in judgment he would be right as we are already guilty.

Repentance; Turn then from the foolish ways of this world that leads to an undesirable end, putting your faith and trust in a righteousness not molded by men the righteousness of Jesus Christ that saves.

Close—-
26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”[e] 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.(Hebrews 10vs26-30)

know Him now as the Gracious and Merciful Savior know Him later as Judge
understand and repent and be unlike foolish chickens on the fence of dog pens.
